The main goal is to provide students with flexible Zoom access to instructors for questions, feedback, advising, project supervision, or personal support during office hours or one-on-one meetings.
Scheduling Zoom Sessions / Recurring Meetings
- Design Consideration / Application Ideas: Instructors can use a recurring scheduled meeting or their Personal Meeting ID (PMI) with a waiting room enabled for consistent, easy-to-remember office hours. Post the link prominently in Moodle. Clearly differentiate the label of the link from the Instructional Zoom session.
- How to Set Up: Use the provided Freshdesk link for setting up a Zoom session for "Office Hours"
- How to Set Up: Use the provided Freshdesk link for setting up a Zoom session for "One-on-one meetings with students.” The one-on-one meeting step uses the instructor's Zoom Personal room link, so setup is different.
Waiting Room
- Design Consideration / Application Ideas: Crucial for privacy. Enable the waiting room so students wait until the instructor admits them one by one, preventing students from overhearing other conversations.
- How to Set Up: Use the provided link for "Waiting Room".
Chat (for Queue Management):
- Design Consideration / Application Ideas: Instructors can use the private chat with students in the waiting room to get a sense of their query before admitting them, or to provide quick answers if appropriate, managing the queue efficiently.
- How to Set Up: Use the provided Freshdesk link for "Chat".
Screen Sharing / Whiteboard / Sharing Notes (through Share Screen)
- Design Consideration / Application Ideas: If a student has a specific question about an assignment, code, or concept, they can share their screen for direct assistance. The instructor can also share their screen to illustrate a point. Use the whiteboard for ad-hoc explanations or problem-solving.
- How to Set Up: Use the provided Freshdesk links for "Screen Sharing" and "Whiteboard". "Shared Notes"
Recording Sessions (with consent)
- Design Consideration / Application Ideas: If the student requests it and provides explicit verbal consent, the instructor can record the session for the student to review later, especially useful for complex feedback or advising sessions.
- How to Set Up: Use the provided Freshdesk link for "Recording Sessions"
