No. You do not need to create a new Zoom account. Zoom is integrated with KPU’s Single Sign-On (SSO), so you can log in using your KPU credentials.

3. When is BigBlueButton (BBB) being phased out?
BBB will remain available until the end of Spring 2026. The transition to Zoom begins in Fall 2025.
4. Is Zoom accessible through Moodle like BBB?
Yes, You can now add Zoom meetings to the Moodle courses by selecting Zoom meeting from the “Add an activity or resource” just as you previously added BigBlueButton sessions.
5. Where is Zoom data stored?
Zoom’s Canadian data residency feature ensures data is stored in Canada.
6. What happens to BBB recordings with guest speakers?
All BBB recordings can be downloaded in .m4v format and uploaded to Moodle or Kaltura for future use.
7. Is there a whiteboard feature in Zoom?
Yes. Zoom has a built-in whiteboard feature similar to BBB.
8. Does Zoom allow marking up shared screens like BBB?
Yes. Zoom includes annotation tools for screen sharing, including touch-based interactions.
9. Does Zoom support attendance tracking and polling like BBB?
Yes. Zoom supports both attendance tracking and polling.
10. Can I record Zoom sessions?
Yes. You can record your Zoom sessions. Recordings are saved to the cloud. They will automatically appear in your Moodle course approximately one hour after the session ends.
11. Can I enable transcripts to show up automatically?

12 Is there a recommended version of Zoom that should be used?

13. Should I use the Zoom desktop app or the browser version?
For the best experience, the Zoom desktop app is recommended. It includes full functionality such as breakout rooms, whiteboards, polling, and advanced screen sharing. The browser version has limited features.
