Breakout Rooms are a great way to facilitate various learning activities in for your online classroom. With Moodle's Zoom Integration, you can create these rooms ahead of time. This article will show you how to do that. For how to create a zoom meeting, please click here.
Creating Breakout Rooms in Moodle
1. Turn Edit mode on.
2. Click the 3 dots to the right of the activity and click Edit settings. If you haven’t created the Zoom meeting yet, see this article on how to set it up.
3. Scroll down to the Breakout room section and click the Plus sign beside Rooms.
4. For each room, you can also add Participants ahead of time or add them by Groups if those are enabled in your course
5. When you are finished, scroll down and Save changes.
Opening Breakout Rooms In Zoom
1. When your meeting has started, click More from the menu on the bottom of your screen and click Breakout rooms.
2. In the new window that opens, if you want to add more breakout rooms, or open the breakout rooms click the button at the bottom of the window.
3. Additional options such as setting a breakout room timer can be found under the options button from the bottom left of that page. You may also allow participants to choose their rooms as well as set them to automatically join the rooms.
