The Collaboration feature is now added in KPU Kaltura Mediaspace (media.kpu.ca and Moodle). This collaboration feature allows media owners to change ownership of their media/video and the ability to add other Kaltura users as co-editors, co-publishers, and co-viewers to their media. The ability to add collaborators to your media/videos allows others to edit, manage, or publish your media.

This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to add collaborators to My Media and the ability to change media ownership.

We recommend creating a copy of the video before adding collaborator(s). You cannot go back to the original video once the collaborator edits it.

Follow the steps to create a copy of the video:

My Media > Pencil icon to access the Edit media page > Launch Editor > Save a copy > Create

2. Click Action and Launch Editor

Adding collaborator(s):

1. Go to My Media and click on the pencil icon to access the Edit media page for the media you wish to add collaboration.

2. Click on the Collaboration tab.

3. Click Add Collaborator and the add collaborator window will be displayed. Type the name of the person you wish to add in the "Type user user or group name" field.

Note: If the name of the user does not show, this means they have not logged into Kaltura or not a Kaltura user. If you think this is an error, please contact the T&L/IT Service Desk.

4. Check the type(s) of permissions for the collaborator you are adding then click Add

  • Co-Editor: Can edit the entry's detail and trim media, replace media, edit captions, edit chapters, and edit slides. Co-Editors cannot delete media or add new co-editors and co-publishers. They can see the analytics page for the media they co-edit.
  • Co-Publisher: Can publish media to their categories or channels.
  • Co-Viewer: Only able to view media and do not have editing or publishing permissions. They are allowed to view unlisted entries.
