This article provides step-by-step instructions on how media owners may enable downloads of a media entry and how other Kaltura viewers may download a media entry resource in Moodle.
This allows videos/media to be downloaded by students/instructors who belong in the same Moodle course, allowing for easy reproduction and sharing of media content. This is particularly useful for those who do not have a stable internet connection for streaming content.
Note: This functionality is for use in courses.moodle.kpu.ca, continue.moodle.kpu.ca and trades.moodle.kpu.ca. Please see instructions for use outside of Moodle on media.kpu.ca (including externals).
For media owners (Enable the download option):
1. Go to My Media and select the video that you want others to download.
2. Click Action and select Edit.
3. Click the "Downloads" tab, check the "Download source" checkbox, and click "Save." This enables the viewers to download the media entry.
4. Publish the video in the course media gallery.
5. Your video is now enabled for download by others in the same Moodle course.
For Viewers (Downloading the video):
1. Go to the course gallery and select the video that you want to download.
2. Click on the "Download" tab and click the download button to download the video as a .mp4 file.
Note: if you do not see the "Download" tab, the owner has not enabled the downloading of a media entry.
