The ATEM Mini Dashboard is the key to controlling what gets recorded. There are many options and possibilities when it comes to recording options (i.e. talking head, screen recording, PowerPoint, green screen, or a combination).

The instructions below will only instruct you on which buttons to press for certain types of videos. Go to other sections for selecting backgrounds, adjusting microphone, etc.

Talking Head video

Talking head videos are easy to create. You will only need to talk into the camera.

Ensure Button 1 (Camera) is selected. (When selected, the button will light up). That's it, you can proceed with recording.

Screen Recording / PowerPoint

For screen recordings and PowerPoint presentations, you do not need the camera. Only the computer is required.

Select button 4 (Computer). This should bring up the in-room computer on the monitor display in front of you. That's it, you can proceed with recording.

Screen Recording / PowerPoint combo with Talking Head

PowerPoint presentations are great, but sometimes we want the best of both worlds. We want to our audience to see us in our presentation. This makes for immediacy especially in creating asynchronous videos.

Select button 4 (Computer) and then for Picture in Picture, press onThen select one of four corners for your camera talking head to go. Ensure you are not covering up any text or information that is important on your screen.

Green Screen recording

Recording with just a green screen can be achieved with pulling down the green background and recording with Talking Head video. However, if you would like to record with a custom background with green screen, this will have to be setup beforehand and require extra time for setup with a Teaching & Learning staff member.
