Overview
If you are using Kaltura to deliver media content in your Moodle course, it is worth noting that NOT ALL media gets restored in a Moodle backup. It all depends on which method you used to display your content.
The following table identifies which method allow items to be backed up and restored in courses.kpu.ca versus which does not.
Methods of displaying in Moodle | Will media be backed up? | Will media be restored? |
Embed via text editor | Yes | Yes |
Kaltura video resource | Yes | Yes |
Course media gallery | No | No |
As you can see, items in the Course media gallery DO NOT get backed up. This is because each course media gallery is unique as it gathers analytic for media viewed in the course.
If you would like to have your media backed up in the Moodle backup, use either the text editor or Kaltura video resource to add media into your course.
