Overview

This resource demonstrates how to share Kaltura videos in your My Media to a shared faculty Moodle site in your department/area. This allow others to re-use the video you've shared to their Moodle course site. This will be useful for those who are teaching the same or similar courses that shares the same content. We know that making videos is hard work, so this is a process to allow others in your area to share, reuse, and recycle content.

Note: Instructions are for accessing Kaltura in Moodle. You would also require to have a shared Moodle site in your faculty/department/area. (If you don't have a shared Moodle site in your area, submit a request to the service desk.

Here's a simple video explaining the process of how this works:

Share video to shared Moodle site

  1. After uploading your video to My Media, open up the video. Click on Actions > Publish.
  2. You want to publish the media into your shared department/area Moodle site. Check the site you want to publish into. Then Save.
  3. You can check to see if your video is shared by going to the shared Moodle site, on the side navigation, click on Media Gallery.

Re-use video shared by another person

Instructions provided below presumes you are sharing with same access a Moodle course site (e.g. a faculty resource site).

  1. Go to your own Moodle course site, where you would like to post the video.
  2. Turn editing on, and add a Kaltura video resource.
  3. Instead of selecting your media from your My Media, select Media Galleries > shared Moodle site
  4. Then select the video from the media gallery which you want to re-use in your Moodle course site.
  5. Done! You've successfully re-used the video shared by another person.
