This practical guide on UDL was developed by Dr. Seanna Takacs and Junsong Zhang to support faculty members seeking better course design and inclusion at the Justice Institute of British Columbia. This guide accompanied an in-person workshop, taking instructors through principles of Universal Design for Learning, design thinking, examples, and two case studies. It also provides concrete steps to move instructors from thinking about UDL through implementation. Many instructors at KPU have already begun the UDL shift in program, course, and activity design; if you’re interested in doing the same, this guide can be a helpful starting place.
