Overview
By default, Kaltura Capture saves your recorded media inside your computer's hard drive. However, it is in a very secretive location. If you would like to find the raw recorded files, this becomes extremely difficult to find. However, you are able to change where these recordings get saved. The instructions below provide step-by-step instructions on how to customize where the recording gets saved.
Instructions for Windows & Mac
If a user installs Kaltura without changing the path of the saved recording, the recordings are buried within quite a few subfolders in the hidden AppData folder.
The default folder path for each OS is:
Windows - C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Kaltura\Capture\
Mac - /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Kaltura/Capture/recordings/
Windows 10 Devices:
At any time after the installation, to find the current folder path:
- Right-click on the Kaltura Capture icon on the desktop and select Properties.
- Open file location and go up one folder to the Capture folder.
- Or simply go to the default if it has not been changed:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Kaltura\Capture\ - Before making the change, create a folder "Kaltura Recordings" either on the Desktop or Videos section.
To perform the file path change, open the Apps and Features page through a Windows search.
- Navigate to the Kaltura Capture installation and select Modify.
2. Select Next on the following window:
3. In this menu, select Change
4. Change the current text from C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Kaltura\Capture\ to C:\Users\(your-username)\(desktop or videos)\Kaltura Recordings
Mac OS Devices:
The same steps above should work, though a slightly different UI.
