By default, your iPad will not display the remaining battery life on your Apple Pencil. This is a display widget that must be enabled manually.


  1.  From the home page of your iPad, swipe to the right and tap the Edit button.
     
  2. From the widget menu, search for the Batteries widget and tap the green + icon.
     
  3. Confirm that the Batteries widget has moved to the active widgets section.
     
  4. Once you've exited the widgets menu, you'll now be able to check the remaining battery life of both the iPad and Apple Pencil whenever you swipe to the right from the iPad's home page.
